Isn't decorating for Christmas the best? This is our last "grown up Christmas", so I stuck with my usual natural Christmas decorations. I used all the same decorations I've used in the past, but every year when I pull them out of our Christmas box they feel fresh and new, yet nostalgic all at the same time. I do have to say it's so fun being in our own house for the first year. I don't have to worry about blaring Christmas music, or nailing garland into the walls. We are feeling really blessed to call this place our home during the holiday season.
When we bought our Christmas tree this year, we went to a parking lot full of trees a few blocks away from our house. We browsed the aisles, and I asked the man selling them where he got them. He told me Oregon, so of course I got all excited and told him that's where Brad and I were from. Then I tried to talk him into giving us the tree for $15 (since that's how much we paid for our tree in Oregon), he laughed and told me their cheapest tree was $35. I was pretty bummed my plan didn't work for getting a cheaper tree. Next year we will bring a tree home with us on the plane after Thanksgiving. Remind me to do that, please.
Next year will be the year I add bright colors into the mix since a little one will be around. I loved those colored lights as a kid. But this last Christmas as the two of us, I'll stick with what I do best --- neutrals.
ps. Thanks Mom and Dad for the early Christmas present… We LOVE our new rug!
