saturday with our nieces and nephews

Saturday we were able to watch our niece and nephews from New Mexico, while their Mom had a grown-up day :)

It was so fun spending time with these little munchkins. We went to the fountains, got snow cones, watched disney movies, went to the dollar store for prizes, and went to In'N'Out. I think we wore them out... actually, I think they wore us out. The best part of the day was watching Brad try to attach a baby carseat into our car... it only took him a good thirty minutes. We're amateurs in the baby department.

A day full of baby kisses and snuggles is a day well spent.

decorating a home

I'm in love with all of these spaces.

We are in the process of house hunting, so interior decorating is on my mind more than usual these days. I love pinterest, but sometimes I'm a little overwhelmed with all of my "pins" {I'm a little "pin happy"}. I wanted to go through designs I'd loved in the past, and pick a few of my favorites for when we actually move into our new place. This is what my brain is loving these days. Lots of neutrals, whites, and a dash of green, blue, red, and orange as accent colors. My brain is on decorating overload, and I love it. If only my wallet matched my mind! I guess that's where creativity and thrift stores come in, am I right?!

grilled summer salad

{don't mind my wrinkled runner. I'm not much of an ironer.}

There's nothing better than fresh summer salad. For some reason, veggies just taste so much better in the summer. I'm sure it's because our produce is being picked up at the Saturday Market every week, and most veggies are in season. Can it just stay summer all year round?

I've been really into cooking with rosemary lately. It's quickly becoming my new favorite herb. The other week, I sautéd mushrooms with rosemary and coconut oil, and served it with chicken and potatoes. It was delicious! I'm so happy I finally found my rosemary match! Mushrooms! Seriously, they're a dreamy duo. For this salad, I sautéd mushrooms and summer squash with coconut oil, rosemary, salt, pepper, and garlic. I served the grilled veggies over a bed of spinach, half a diced pear, and topped it off with goat cheese and a homemade dressing. SO delicious. It totally hit the spot.

Here's what you'll need for the salad and dressing...

ingredients for salad:
-1/2 summer squash
-handful of sliced mushrooms
-1 sprig of rosemary
-salt & pepper
-a little bit of garlic
-spinach
-1/2 pear
-as much goat cheese as you desire

ingredients for dressing:
-1 tablespoon of dijon mustard
-1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
-2 tablespoon olive oil
-salt & pepper

goodies from the provo saturday market

Baked goods and limeade. The photos say it all.

The Provo Saturday Market is up and running. Brad and I went over the weekend, as a way to build momentum for the Salt Lake Saturday Market. The SLC Saturday Market is my favorite thing around here in the summer. But since the Provo market is right down the street from us, we had to check it out. It's not quite fruits and veggies season, so sugary goodies would have to suffice. Hence all the photos of treats. Soon I'll be perfectly content with a quart of berries.

Wishing you all a very happy weekend that hopefully includes a bouquet of blooming peonies! These flowers are a dream. If only I was doing a wedding this weekend... Someone get married this time next year and ask me to do the flowers, ya hear?!

Happy Weekend!
