our spontaneous road trip and some news

If you've been wondering why Brad and I have been making so many random trips out to Utah, it's because... we are moving there this summer. Yep, we're moving to Utah. Over spring break, Brad and I were certain that the Lord was calling us to Utah. Starting in August, I have the privilege of doing college ministry full time at Center Point Church in Orem, Utah. I couldn't be more excited, since doing full time college ministry has been a desire the Lord put on my heart a few years ago, and the desire continues to grow. It's a scary step... One that is going to take full reliance on the Lord. The thing about truly following Jesus with your whole heart is that He calls you to do things you could never do on your own. That's the beauty of following Christ, it's a realization of your brokenness and need for Him to do His will through you. You could say we're a little freaked out about this huge step of faith we're about to take, but at the same time, we've never been more sure of the Lord's call on our lives as a married couple. We are ready for this new adventure Christ has set before us. Not to mention, I'm really excited about all of the gluten-free options they have in Orem/Provo... Notice my gluten-free pizza above. Yep, I'm pretty excited.

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.”

Psalm 118:8 “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.”

happy birthday, mom!

{ my older sister, my mom, and me at Crater Lake }

Mom! Happy Birthday!

I love this picture so much, because it perfectly depicts my relationship with you. I have always been a mamas girl, never wanting to share you with anybody. You are just that great that I don't want to share you! And I think everyone who knows you would agree with me on that statement... You are just really great. Thank you for being such a loving, supportive, and gracious mom. I can think of a million things that you've done for me, and I'm grateful for every one of them. Like when I was really sick and you made me every possible gluten-free recipe that you could find on the internet, or when you drove down to Corvallis on numerous occasions because I just needed someone to encourage me and believe in me. There are billions of selfless things you've done for me, Megs, and Tyler over the years. I think on behalf of the Nelson 3, we wish you the best of birthdays! Enjoy your day and do something that makes you feel extra special {because you are}.

I love you, mom!

M+K Engelking wedding decor

A lot of time and energy went into this set up, but I have to say it turned out very Kristin and Michael in the end. Thanks to all of the creative bodies that helped put it all together, and a special thanks to Starbucks for giving us that extra burst of energy to get things done. I'm pretty sure that my favorite line from a guest was, "If pinterest had a wedding, this would be it." Or this line, "It looks like that website that every girl is obsessed with... What's it called again? Oh yeah, pinterest." Luckily, it's not all from pinterest, there are some original ideas in there... Like the lampshade chandelier. A-mazing. I think it turned out really beautiful, and it screamed Kristin + Michael.

M+K Engelking wedding flowers

Here's a sneak peek of the flowers from the Engelking wedding. Jodi taught me how to put together the bridesmaids bouquets, and I'm beginning to fall more and more in love with creating arrangements. Luckily, the flowers we used had thick stems, making the bouquets sturdier and easier to work with. The leaves are made our of old book pages and fake gold leaves from the craft store. And can I just say that I want to add a bold striped ribbon on every bouquet from here on out? Jodi did a phenomenal job on being the master mind. She's pretty much the best trainer/mentor for going into the wedding business.

Oh, and I have to say that if JCrew were ever a floral arrangement, this would have to be it.

Decoration photos are coming tomorrow.
