I've been switching things up a bit from my usual granola and greek yogurt. My new go-to has been this gem of a smoothie. All I can say is that its been the boost of energy I've needed. I've been trying to incorporate more greens into my life, and this sneaky way incorporates greens without me even tasting them. Genius.
Do you have any good green smoothie recipes? I'd love for you to share.

This looks so good! Love the idea of sneaking those vegetables in.

I would add some vanilla protein powder! I do one with protein powder, spinach, banana, almond milk and a tablespoon of peanut butter. Delicious.
ReplyDeleteChocolate whey protien (which would make you sick it has wheat in it)
ReplyDeletePlain or vanilla Greek yoguart
Peanut butter
Almond Milk
Lots of spinach
Ice
It's literally the color green but gives me my chocolate peanut butter fix every morning so I'm not tempted to cheat on my diet the rest of the day. It's all about getting the peanut butter to spinach ratio right so you don't taste the spinach. You could also add a banana but I'm allergic to them so I've never tried it!
I love this recipe - mangoes, bananas and strawbs are what I would order in a smoothie for a treat, as opposed to a healthy smoothie. Sneaky greens are the perfect addition!
ReplyDeleteDo you think this would work with whole milk?
ReplyDeleteI need to try it!!!

mmmm love me some green smoothies! I'd say my favorite was similar to the two previous smoothies, sans the protein powder. Nothing against it, I just couldn't find one that I felt comfortable buying (it's kind of price-y if you don't know what it tastes like). Also I liked using a frozen banana as the "cold" ingredient--thought it really neutralized the spinach without watering the smoothie down. SO my go-to was unsweetened vanilla almond milk, a frozen banana, a couple handfuls of spinach, and a dollop of peanut butter. If I had greek yogurt I'd throw that in, but I mainly had Noosa Honey yoghurt (TRY. IT. You'll never go back to greek yogurt). But I can say a close second was all the above ingredients minus the peanut butter, plus some fresh pineapple that I'd frozen and one clementine-like a burst of summer! I loved that especially in the winter months.
ReplyDeleteThe only problem now is that I broke my blender. :/ So if you (or anyone for that matter) have recommendations that are reasonably priced, I'm all ears!
I always add spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, 1/4 avocado and 1/2 frozen banana and vanilla protein powder...creamy and pure yum!

ReplyDeleteMy most recent fav has been: 1 c. frozen mango, 1/2 banana, 1 small pear, a splash of oj, a handful of spinach or kale, 1 t. chia seeds and 1 t. spirulina. I used to be a straight oatmeal kind of gal, but have found that a smoothie gives me way more energy in the AM!
