happy birthday to my big brother !

{me, my sister, my brother}

He's getting so old!

My brother is the boy version of me [except, he's WAY smarter, he's the only accountant in the family---go figure. And, yes, he's way funnier than me, but I'm only saying that because it's his birthday]! My brother and I have the same introverted/extroverted personality. We prefer to be home bodies, we're competitive, we're strong-willed, and we're stable. I have always looked up to my brother. He is such a strong leader, and I'm proud to say my brother is a man after Christ's heart. Every year, I am more and more impressed with his maturity and desire to grow. I love my brother, and I only wish we lived closer!

Happy Birthday, Ty!
Enjoy your day! Love you!

guess what... yep, another bridal shower.

{Carly's Bridal Shower}

This summer has been full of weddings, and I can't complain. I love watching friends get married---This is truly one of the happiest seasons in life.

Last Friday, I had the privilege of hosting a bridal shower for my dear friend, Carly. Carly is getting married this Saturday, and I couldn't be more thrilled for her! I can't wait to stand beside her on Saturday, and support her and Matt on their wedding day. Carly asked me if I would decorate the reception, and of course, I'm honored to do it. This is a job I'm not taking lightly, considering Carly has impeccable taste, and I want it to be everything she wants it to be and more. I can't wait!

Now, back to the shower... It was lovely. So many great women were there to support and love on the soon-to-be Mrs Cross.

garage sale finds.

On Saturday, the hubs and I went garage sale shopping. We went to over 10 garage sales, and wouldn't bother with an item unless they were under $5. We did really well---Overall, we only spent $6! Chyeah! I have to say that at the beginning we were a little discouraged, because we couldn't find any good finds... But by the end of the day, people were pretty much giving their stuff away. A little piece of advice: Go garage sale shopping the last hour they are open. Most of the items will be half off, or else---FREE. Here are our items from the day
earrings: FREE
bag: $0.75
trunk: $0.75
gold plate: $.50
canister: $3.00
polaroid: $1.00 [still had 5 photos left!]

We had so much fun! I think we've found a new hobby :]

meg+jason [part 3]

Here are photos from the gorgeous set-up.
Doesn't this make you want to redo your wedding in coral and mint? Yes, puhlease.

The reception was full of spray painted bottles, coral and white flowers, and vintage-inspired touches. It was beautiful.

meg+jason [part2]

The wedding day went as smooth as a wedding day could ever go [WAY smoother than my own]. My sister was very calm [minus one panic attack during pictures... but every bride has to have one freak out moment, right?] For a bride, she carried herself beautifully. I felt like I didn't have very many matron-of-honor duties, because she was so relaxed. I had to carry her extremely long train, dab her eyes when she shed happy tears, and held her bouquet from place to place. My sister looked gorgeous, more stunning than I have ever seen her look. Her hair was "Julianna Hough" inspired, and honestly, I found the hairstyle for her at midnight, the night before her wedding. That means she had no hair trial, and she didn't know what she wanted 9 hours before her hair appointment, but it all went smoothly. [Big sigh of relief].
Watching my sister marry Jason was one of the happiest things I've ever witnessed. I have been praying for my sister's future husband for quite some time, and the first time I met Jason, I knew. The more I see them together, the more I know that God made Jason for my sister. My speech was a complete waterworks show. I seriously could not hold it together. I was a mess. For those of you who were at the wedding, but couldn't understand a word I said, here is my complete speech [without the huffing, heaving, and distraction of mascara running down my face from tears].

Meg,
You have never looked more beautiful. Jason, you are one lucky man. I'm so happy to be standing next to the both of you today, what an honor.
Growing up, I always wanted to do whatever my sister did.  When she played with Barbies, I wanted to play with Barbies.  When she wore Abercrombie and Fitch, I wanted to wear it too.  When she cut her bangs, I cut my bangs too.  When my sister begged me to open up all of her Christmas presents early so she could see what Santa had brought her and then rewrap them, I did.  I was on governing board in high school, because of my sister.  I even ended up at OSU because my sister would always talk about how great it was.  Throughout the years, I have wanted to be like my big sister.
Meg, I have always admired your generous heart.  I'll forever remember our trip to Southern California last summer.  I can't believe you paid for my entire trip, because I was a poor married college student and couldn't afford a plane ticket or restaurant food.  That was such a generous act, and I'm so thankful for that trip, just the two sisters.  The Lord has blessed you with such generous, out-going, and accepting qualities.  Both Tyler and I are very type A, but you are completely type B.  Without you in the family, we are boring... Seriously.  I love how fun you make everything, I know few people who carry a pair of roller blades in the back of their car just because.  You are also so accepting of everyone.  I admire how you don't hold grudges, and you never say a bad thing about anyone.  You see the best in people, and that's why so many people love being around you, because you make everyone feel their best.  I am so lucky to have you as my big sister.
I have prayed for you to find a man like Jason, ever since I fell in love with Brad.  Jason is perfect for you.  I prayed that you would find a man who could 1. Keep up with you. 2. Love the Lord more than he loved you. And 3. Complimented you, and brought out the best in you.  I have never seen you so happy in my entire life, and I'm confident that Jason is the man God made for you.  I love you both so much! Jason, welcome to the family!
Cheers!
