christmas morning

All of my siblings and their spouses were together on Christmas morning, which was a rare treat! This has never happened before, and it probably won't happen again for a while. On Christmas Eve, my parents give us all pajamas [it's a family tradition], even if we're not all in the same place.  As you can see, my sisters and I look like twins. We love matching for those few hours on Christmas morning... Any other day it'd be a bit ridiculous, but we love it. The morning was full of laughter, taking our time opening gifts, full glasses of eggnog+coffee, and even some tears [thanks to my husband who put a framed black and white picture of my grandma in my stocking! I balled. That stinker... He always gets me the most meaningful gifts.] I can't even begin to explain how great it was having everyone in the same place. I didn't even care about the presents, I was just so glad I was able to be with my family. Nothing beats family.

Hubs and I woke up extra early to exchange gifts between the two of us. He spoiled me [as usual]. He got me lots of great stuff! I don't even know where to begin! I'll be wearing some of the stuff this week, so you'll get to see some of it :] I have to say my favorite gift from him was the framed black and white photo of my grandma. It's beautiful. She was so beautiful! Aw, I just love it. I just love him too. I think I'll keep him forever, what do you think?

Before we opened family presents, we ate a yummy breakfast. We then opened presents one-by-one, and   made a comment about every gift. I love taking the time to open gifts slowly and enjoy the presentation of Christmas morning. I'm aware that when we have kids Christmas morning will be a completely different story. I really can't wait until we start having kids. Christmas morning will start at 5 am instead of 10 am, and presents will be toys and dolls again! Not to mention, it's way more fun watching kids open presents. We did get to watch all my cousins open presents on Christmas Eve, so that was entertaining. However, my brother did get a few basketball posters, which made him feel like a kid again [it's for his "man cave", Amanda says he's living vicariously through the bachelor pad years he never lived]. It was just a really fun morning.

After we opened presents, all the girls went for a walk to burn off some of those holiday treats. Don't worry, when we got back we tore open our stocking candy. Eggnog almonds? Oh yesss. So good.

I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas. I know we did.

  1. My parents love to do the pajama thing too, except all of ours are different. And my brothers get boxers since they don't sleep in pajamas :D Looks like you had a great time! That's awesome you all could be together again.

  3. Aww, this looks like you had a great holiday. And I LOVE the matching PJ's! I think my family needs to start that tradition. I'm a new follower. I'd love if you'd stop by my blog some time and say hi (and follow back if you're interested).
